U 28 ( NATO designation S 177) was a German submarine of the submarine class 206 of the Federal Navy . It was laid on January 16, 1973 at Rhein-Stahl-Nordseewerke in Emden with construction number 50/448.
The godmother was Mrs. Herta Gruschka .
Between May 1989 and July 1990 it was the first submarine of this class to be converted to the improved class 206 A at Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft .
The boat was at sea for a total of 2125 days and covered 180,376.7 nautical miles. On May 14th, 2008 it was auctioned at VEBEG , only to be scrapped in the course of 2010 at Scheepssloperij Nederland BV in 's-Gravendeel .
