U 13

U 13 is a former submarine of Type 206 .

history

The boat was built by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft in Kiel . The keel was laid on November 15, 1969. The launch took place on September 29, 1971, the commissioning on March 19, 1973. The boat belonged to the 3rd submarine squadron of the Navy and was stationed in Eckernförde .

U13 accidentally invaded Swedish territory in Simrishamn on February 1, 1990 . After the incorrect navigation was discovered, she reported to the Swedish authorities. West Germany apologized diplomatically for the violation.

Whereabouts

The boat was not converted to the Type 206 Alpha. Together with its sister ship U 14 , the oldest class 206 submarine was decommissioned on March 26, 1997. A handover to Indonesia failed. The submarine was scrapped .
