Uiseong County ( Korean : 홍성군 , Uiseong-gun ) is located in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province in South Korea . The administrative headquarters are located in the city of Uiseong-eup. The district had an area of 1,176 km² and a population of 53,237 inhabitants in 2019.
The county is near the center of the province and is bounded by Andong to the north, Cheongsong to the east, Gunwi to the south, and Sangju and Yecheon to the west. As in many parts of Korea, most of the area is forested. Only about 19% of the area of the district is arable land. The district is largely rural and the economy is dominated by agriculture
