Cheongdo County ( Korean : 홍성군 , Cheongdo-gun ) is located in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province in South Korea . The administrative headquarters are in the city of Cheongdo-eup. The district had an area of 694 km² and a population of 43,952 in 2019.
Similar to the rest of Korea, Cheongdo has four different seasons. Summers in Cheongdo can be extremely hot as Cheongdo is only 30 minutes by train from Daegu . Daegu is known as one of the hottest cities in South Korea due to the surrounding mountains that trap all the heat. Winters can be quite cold, occasionally reaching −15 degrees Celsius.
An international bullfighting festival is held in Cheongdo every year.
