Uljin County ( Korean : 홍성군 , Uljin-gun ) is located in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province in South Korea . The administrative headquarters are in the city of Uljin-eup. The district had an area of 989 km² and a population of 50,810 inhabitants in 2019.
The Hanul nuclear power plant , one of four nuclear power plants in South Korea, is located here. The facility currently has six reactors and is a major source of employment for the county and region. In addition, fishing and agriculture play an important role.
