Ulrich IV. Von Neuhaus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ulrich IV. Von Neuhaus (also Ulrich IV. Von Hradec (Czech Oldřich IV. Z Hradce ); † after 1383) was a Bohemian nobleman from the Witigon family branch of the Lords of Neuhaus .

Life

His parents were Ulrich III. von Neuhaus and his first wife Margarete von Kärnten (Markéta z Korutan) . After the father's death in 1349, his possessions were divided between his four sons. As a result of the division, the von Neuhaus family split into three branches of the family. The fourth brother, Meinhard / Menhart , belonged to the clergy as a Prague canon and bishop of Trent and left no descendants.

Ulrich was first mentioned in 1343. On November 2, 1347, he took part in the coronation of Charles IV as King of Bohemia with his father and eldest brother Heinrich II . Like his brother Heinrich, Ulrich took part in Karl's campaigns in the Upper Palatinate, which is why he and Heinrich were rewarded with a pledge over the town of Taus . In the armed conflicts that Heinrich waged over the next few years, Ulrich stood on his side. For the year 1354 Ulrich and his brother Meinhard are proven as patrons of the churches of Slavonice , Stranné, Žirov and Číměř . In 1358, both of them acquired goods in Velešín , Hříšice and Strachoňovice from Martin von Mutice (Mareš z Mutic) , which were entered in the Moravian land table in Brno . Around this time they also built Rosenstein Castle , the first burgrave of which was Martin von Mutice.

With a certificate issued on December 1, 1360 in Nuremberg, King Charles Ulrich IV confirmed the possession of Hořepník , which he also exempted from royal tax. The king also confirmed the indivisibility of the estates that Ulrich held together with his brother Meinhard. On August 27, 1366 Ulrich concluded a contract with the Moravian Margrave Johann in Slavonice , with whom Ulrich gave him a quarter of Slavonice with all associated rights. In return, he received Hrádek Castle with the associated pond and farm from Johann , which he sold back to him a short time later due to over-indebtedness. In 1365 Ulrich acquired the dominions of Mezimostí and Dráchov, which he sold to the brothers Dobeš and Litold von Landstein two years later . In 1374 Ulrich is recorded as a participant in the Brno Parliament . He was last mentioned in 1383 as an assessor at the Prague Regional Court.
