Ulrich Reß

Ulrich Reß (born October 29, 1956 in Augsburg ) is a German opera , operetta , lied and oratorio singer with a tenor voice . He is the brother of Wolfgang Reß .

Life

In his hometown he studied singing from 1975 to 1978 at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory there with Franz Kelch . He also took singing lessons from Leonore Kirschstein . He received his first engagement as a performance tenor at the Augsburg Theater . With the 1984/85 season Ulrich Reß moved to the Bavarian State Opera , of which he is still a member of the ensemble . In 1994 the artist was appointed Bavarian Chamber Singer .

Ulrich Reß made his debut in 1988 as David in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Bayreuth Festival . Guest performances have taken him to the music stages of Hamburg , Berlin , Stuttgart , Dresden , Mannheim , Barcelona , Athens , Strasbourg , Nice and Japan .

His roles include Scaramuccio in Ariadne auf Naxos , Dr. Blind in Die Fledermaus , Bishop of Budoja in Palestrina , Knusperhexe in Hansel and Gretel , Walther von der Vogelweide in Tannhäuser and the Singers' War on the Wartburg , Valzacchi in Der Rosenkavalier , Junker Spärlich in Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor , Pong in Turandot , Monostatos in The Magic Flute and Jacquino in Fidelio , Mime in Das Rheingold , Mime in Siegfried .

In addition to his international work as an opera singer, Ulrich Reß is a sought-after song and oratorio singer. For example, he appeared on October 31, 2009 in the Herz-Jesu-Kirche at the side of Sophia Brommer and Michael Volle as Uriel in the oratorio The Creation by Joseph Haydn .
