United States national amateur boxing championships

The United States national amateur boxing championships are the American championships in amateur boxing . They have been taking place every year since the first event and are organized by the American amateur boxing association USA Boxing , which is associated with the AIBA and is based in Colorado Springs . The first competitions took place in 1888 in 6 weight classes. Boxing has been in 10 weight classes since 2010. Until 1920 these championships were called the United States National Championships (AAU Tournament) .
