The Technical University of Lisbon ( Portuguese : Universidade Técnica de Lisboa ), UTL for short , was a state technical university based in Lisbon . With around 18,800 students and a further 2,300 Masters students in seven faculties, it was one of the largest universities in Portugal . She was a member of the CLUSTER consortium and the university network CESAER .
It was founded in 1930; at last there were seven faculties and institutes that had emerged from the city's earlier independent higher education institutions. The rector of the university was José Dias Lopes da Silva.
By law of December 31, 2012, the Technical University of Lisbon was merged with the University of Lisbon to form the new University of Lisbon (Universidade de Lisboa).
