The Heidelberg Symposium is a three-day, interdisciplinary event that has been held annually since 1989 at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg on topics of high social relevance. It is organized by the Heidelberg Club for Business and Culture eV , a non-profit student initiative.

The center of the symposium is the marquee set up on Heidelberg University Square, which offers space for participants and speakers to stay between the individual events. These take place on the premises of Heidelberg University. In addition to lectures and panel discussions, individual aspects of the topic are discussed in detail in small colloquia. The aim of the symposia is on the one hand to shed light on the respective topic from as many different perspectives as possible, which is why experts from various fields such as science, politics, business and culture are invited, and on the other hand to create an exchange between the latter and the participants. The normally around 600 participants consist largely of students, but also interested members of other age groups. With 1,100 participants and around 40 speakers, the 23rd symposium was larger than average.

"The annual symposia organized by the Heidelberg Club for Business and Culture are thematically very demanding and, thanks to the prominent speakers that they have always managed to win, have attracted a lot of attention far beyond student circles."

Heidelberg Club for Economy and Culture e. V.

This non-profit and independent organization was founded in 1988 as a student initiative at Heidelberg University for the purpose of interdisciplinary exchange. The activity of the club consists exclusively in the annual organization of the symposium. Each year the symposium is prepared and organized by a new organizational team made up of students from all disciplines. The team of organizers is responsible for deciding on the topic and design and is supported and advised by the club's board and advisory board. After the symposium, the organizers become members of the sponsoring association.
