Full steam ahead! is a so-called Koch - documentation that the private TV channel VOX was broadcast. The show was produced by ITV Studios Germany GmbH (producer Britta Maiwald).
The program ran - after two biweekly pilot programs in July 2007 - from October 22, 2007 to December 2009 on weekdays at 7:50 p.m. It was an adaptation of the English Pressure Cooker format . The five candidates for Unter Volldampf! recruited from former candidates of the perfect dinner and TV newbies. These ambitious hobby chefs cooked for a week in a gourmet restaurant for 20 people across Germany to win the week.
content
At full steam! Five candidates cooked a four-course menu every day for 20 “real” guests in a restaurant - that is, under professional conditions. The four-course menus were created by the candidates themselves - each evening a candidate was responsible for a course. While four candidates were present in the kitchen, one was responsible for the service, changing daily. Thus, each candidate cooked four courses ( starter , intermediate course , main course , dessert ) during the week of participation and spent one evening on duty.
The guests rated each course separately (zero to ten points), the service was beyond competition; First of all, the daily winner was determined from the average values and then awarded with a bottle of champagne by the restaurant team every evening. A weekly ranking was also created, which was relevant for the main winner of 3000 euros in cash that was determined at the end of the week. The challenge for the candidates was to create four perfect individual courses for 20 guests for four days under professional conditions. Every day before work began, the head chef and the restaurant management gave them personal feedback in the so-called “ fire speech ”.
Most of the work in the kitchen was shown; But in between, the reaction and evaluation of the guests for the individual courses was always captured. And just as with the perfect dinner , the opinions of the candidates as well as those of the restaurant professionals were shown.
Celebrities under full steam!
Similar to The Perfect Dinner , there was also Unter Volldampf! a Sunday, 120-minute primetime format in which celebrities cook and face the guests' reviews. The same rules applied here, but the celebrities first had to prove themselves in the cook's teaching kitchen before they were allowed to cook in the restaurant.
