Usa ( Japanese 宇佐 市 , - shi ) is a city in Ōita prefecture in Japan .
geography
Usa is southeast of Kitakyushu and Nakatsu and northwest of Ōita and Beppu .
history
Usa received city rights on April 1, 1967. On March 31, 2005, the county of Usa was dissolved and incorporated into the city of Usa.
Attractions
The Usa-jingū ( 宇佐 神宮 ) Shinto shrine , consecrated to Hachiman , was built in 725. It is the most important among the Hachiman shrines in Japan.
