Usuki ( Japanese 臼杵 市 , - shi ) is a city in Ōita prefecture in Japan .

Usuki is south of Ōita and north of Saiki .

history

William Adams landed in Bungo, now Usuki, in April 1600.

As usual in Japan, the city was formed as a result of the amalgamation of existing places on April 1, 1950 .
