Usitaco ( Usi Taco , USI Taco ) is an East Timorese Suco in government office Nitibe (Special Administrative Region Oe-Cusse Ambena ).

Before the 2015 regional reform, Usitaco had an area of ​​64.46 km². Now there are 57.81 km². The Suco is in the center of the Nitibe administrative office. To the northeast is the Suco Suniufe , southeast Lelaufe and west Beneufe . In the northwest is the Sawusee . In the east Usitaco borders on the administrative office Pante Macassar with its Suco Taiboco and in the south on the neighboring state Indonesia . The border is formed by the Kusi River (later Noel Besi ). In the northwest, the Oelete River follows the border with Beneufe to its confluence with the Sawusee.

Most of the larger towns in the Sucos are located in the southeast of the Sucos. The largest is Nitibe , from which an overland road leads to Passabe . Around Nitibe are the villages of Oamna , Cuantua ( Kuntua ), Fatunababo and, a little further south-west, Bonemelo ( Bonemeto ). On the coast there are also the towns of Oelete and Bonak , through which the road leads from Citrana , the main town of the administrative office, to Pante Macassar , the town's capital . In Nitibe there is a helipad, a medical station and a primary school, the Escola Primaria Nitibe (Fatubena) . Another medical station is located in the west of the Sucos.

The four Aldeias Cuantua , Fatunababo , Nitibe and Oamna are located in the Suco .

Residents

2139 inhabitants live in the Suco (2015), of which 1073 are men and 1066 women. The population density is 37.0 inhabitants / km². There are 462 households in the Suco. Almost 100% of the residents name Baikeno as their mother tongue. Only a small minority speaks Tetum Prasa .

history

During the unrest surrounding the independence referendum in East Timor in 1999 , several houses in Usitaco were burned down by pro-Indonesian militias . The population fled to the Indonesian West Timor .

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Julio Cael elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.
