Dora Ute Georgi , b. Sturm, (born February 23, 1943 in Meißen ; † July 15, 2010 ) was a German politician ( FDP ). From 1990 to 1994 she was a member of the state parliament of Saxony and also mayor of the Malschendorf community .

Life

Georgi passed her A- levels at a secondary school in Dresden and worked as a freelance translator from 1964 to 1970. From 1972 to 1976 Georgi worked as a research assistant and from 1976 to 1990 she worked as an interpreter . Through external state examinations in 1974 and 1982 at the University of Leipzig , she obtained the degree of language mediator . In 1990 she finished her postgraduate studies at the University of Leipzig as a technical school teacher . She was chairman of the Canaletto Forum Pirna eV

She last lived in Dresden .

politics

Georgi was elected community representative in 1974 and has been a councilor since 1986. In 1985 she joined the LDPD and has been a member of the FDP since 1990. In 1990 she became mayor of the Malschendorf community. From February to August 1990 she was a member of the party executive committee of the FDP and then represented in the presidium. She was vice-chairman of the Association of Liberal Local Politicians . In the state elections in 1990 she was elected to the Saxon state parliament via the state list of the FDP Saxony , to which she was a member of the committee for school, youth and sport and the committee for social affairs, health, family and women. She was the parliamentary director of her group. After the state elections in 1994 , she left the state parliament because the FDP failed to pass the five percent hurdle . As a result, she also resigned from her executive position in the state party. From 1994 to 2001 she held the office of mayor for schools, youth, culture and social affairs in Pirna .

She belonged to the board of trustees of the Saxon State Center for Political Education . She was involved in the association of former members of the Saxon State Parliament , founded in 1994, initially as vice-president and since 2004 she has held the presidency of the association. On June 13, 2009, Erich Iltgen, President of the State Parliament, awarded her the Saxon Constitutional Medal “for her political work and her diverse voluntary work” .
