Uwe Gatermann (born October 29, 1938 in Stralsund ; † April 7, 2013 in Lübeck ) was a German walker and long-distance runner .

As a track and field athlete, Uwe Gatermann started in his youth for the ATSV Lübeck from 1893, which was renamed TuS Lübeck from 1893 in 1958 , in the 60s for the Lübecker SV Gut Heil from 1876, from 1969 to 1972 and 1985 to 1992 for the Hamburger SV , from 1973 to 1984 for SV Friedrichsgabe and from 1993 for LBV Phönix Lübeck . His career as a long-distance runner began in the late 1950s. His great role model was the Czech locomotive Emil Zátopek , whose agonizing running style he adopted. In 1959 he won over 10,000 meters in Bad Oldesloe in 33: 57.4 minutes and in 1960 over 5000 meters in 15: 43.6 minutes. At his first German championships in 1960 in Celle , he finished 73rd in the marathon in 3:20:39 hours. He achieved his best placement on this track at the German championships in 1966 in Krefeld with 11th place in 2: 40: 45.0 hours.

In 1975 he won the Ulrich von Wissel challenge cup as the most successful athlete of the OFD Hamburg with three gold medals .
