Uwe Kliche

Uwe Kliche (born March 3, 1938 in Flensburg ) is a former German weightlifter.

Career

He began wrestling as a teenager at the Flensburg weight training club . He was soon able to record his first successes in northern Germany. In 1959 Uwe switched to weightlifting. In 1961 the 1.65 m tall Uwe took part in German championships for the first time and took 3rd place in the bantamweight division. Until 1972 he started with a lot of perseverance and energy at many championships in light and middleweight and achieved great success at national level and good placements at international level, with 4th place at the European championships in 1968 in Leningrad and 6th place in 1971 the World Cup in Sofia were his best results. Uwe Kliche, who had meanwhile switched to "Phönix" Kassel , was a trained textile merchant who later worked as a post office clerk.
