Uwe Weidemann (born June 14, 1963 in Weißensee ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player.

Career as a player

In the DDR

Weidemann grew up in Sömmerda, Thuringia , and began playing football at the age of seven for the tractor company sports association (BSG) in Weißensee . During selection games in the Erfurt district , FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , the region's soccer center, became aware of the 13-year-old talent and in 1977 took Weidemann to its student team. For the 1983/84 season head coach Siegmar Menz appointed him for the first time in the squad of the GDR league team of FC Rot-Weiß. The 1.76 m tall and meanwhile trained mechanic Weidemann was designated as a striker, but only played the last league game on May 19, 1984 this season. In the encounter between FC Rot-Weiß and FC Carl Zeiss Jena (2-0) he came on in the 73rd minute. Mainly he played this season for Rot-Weiß Erfurt II in the third-class district league . There he was top scorer with 20 goals and thus helped his team to rise to the GDR league . Already in the following season 1984/85 Weidemann became a regular player in the position of left winger, played 21 of 26 games and was Erfurt's top scorer with 12 goals. In 1985/86 Weidemann was only a substitute due to injury, between the 6th and 21st matchday he only came on six times as a substitute. After that it went better again, because in the season 1986/87 he was used in 20 point games. In the second half of the season he only played four full time games.

In 1985 Weidemann was appointed to the squad of the GDR national team for the first time . On April 6, 1985 he played in the World Cup qualifier Bulgaria - GDR (1-0) his first international match, in which he only played the last two minutes. After he was only on the field as a substitute for 54 minutes in the following international match between GDR and Norway (1-0), it took four years before he was able to complete eight more international matches. Only in the games Malta - GDR 0: 4, Kuwait - GDR 1: 2, he worked as a midfielder or defender over the full season. Weidemann played his last international match on May 13, 1990 in the encounter between Brazil and GDR (3: 3).

For the 1987/88 season, league competitor 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig caused Weidemann to delegate to their own team. This measure took place against Weidemann's will. He had to leave his girlfriend and family behind in Erfurt, and he was still handicapped by previous injuries, so that his time in Leipzig was bad news from the start. Under these conditions, Weidemann played for the Leipzig club only in four league point games, in which he was used a total of 135 minutes. After a year he applied to be delegated back to the Erfurt club. Against the will of Leipzig, Weidemann moved back to Thuringia in the summer of 1988. He was banned from the GDR football association for three games because of this change, and 1. FC Lok Leipzig had demanded a lifelong ban for Weidemann. After the compulsory break, Weidemann earned himself a regular place with the Erfurt team. He started out as a striker as before, but moved to midfield in the second half of the 1989 season. He completed his last season at FC Rot-Weiß in 1989/90. In 20 point games was used as a midfielder and scored five times. Within seven years he had played 94 league games and only scored 21 goals for Erfurt.

In the Federal Republic

After the turnaround, he moved to 1. FC Nürnberg in the Bundesliga for the 1990/91 season for a transfer fee of DM 650,000 . Although his talent and talents were recognized, he could not prevail. After two seasons, the technician then moved to the 2nd division for SV Waldhof Mannheim . The achievements there drew the attention of MSV Duisburg , to which he switched the following season. The first of two years in Duisburg was probably the best of his career because the offensive player finally radiated a goal threat.

That made FC Schalke 04 , who was aspiring at the time, aware of him. Weidemann experienced a break-in here. After the 32-year-old had been a regular player under coach Jörg Berger at the beginning of the first half of the 1995/96 season and had contributed two goals to the 5-0 win at SSV Vorsfelde in Wolfsburg in the first round of the DFB Cup , he suffered over the course of the season under various injuries that did not let him get really fit again. In a year and a half he made only 19 Bundesliga appearances for the Knappen, but was part of the Eurofighter team in the first two rounds of the 1996/97 UEFA Cup and was a substitute in three games against Roda JC and Trabzonspor . But before the Gelsenkirchen team won the UEFA Cup with their new coach Huub Stevens , Weidemann moved to Hertha BSC's second division during the 1996/97 winter break . Although he was part of the team that made it to the Bundesliga, he was only able to contribute in seven missions because he was thrown back from injuries here too. After the Herthan team rose, he stayed in the second division and moved to FC Gütersloh . Here he lived two successful years personally and was a regular player.

He actually wanted to end his career after the 1998/99 season in the Regionalliga West / Südwest at Fortuna Düsseldorf , but in the 2000/01 season he accepted the challenge of Regionalliga Nord with Fortuna Düsseldorf, but could not prevent relegation to the top division .

Weidemann's career was accompanied by injuries from the beginning, which repeatedly set him back and prevented a possibly bigger career. His nickname is Heino because of his blonde hair .

Career as a coach

From November 2004 to November 2007 Uwe Weidemann was a trainer in Düsseldorf. He played his last game as a coach for Fortuna Düsseldorf on November 11, 2007 against Eintracht Braunschweig (1: 1). Although Düsseldorf was in third place in the table, he was given a leave of absence the following day due to unsuccessfulness, as the team had only won two wins from their last eight games. On November 12, 2008 he was introduced as the coach of the Lower Rhine division KFC Uerdingen 05 . On September 14th, 2009 the separation took place due to lack of success. Since November 1, 2010, he has been a coach at Krefeld's Lower Rhine division VfR Fischeln . In March 2011, Uwe Weidemann and VfR Fischeln parted ways prematurely. Uwe Weidemann has been working as a youth talent scout at MSV Duisburg since January 8, 2012 .
