In the first medieval sources, Fažana / Fasana is mentioned as a small fishing village, after which the channel between the mainland and the Brijuni Islands is named. From the time of Napoleon there is a "Fisherman's Brotherhood of St. Andrew". At the beginning of the last century there was one of the largest anchovy factories in Istria . The anchovies were sold to the population in the neighboring towns, to the hotels on the Brioni Islands and to the anchovy factory for processing. Fishing was one of the main activities of the population and was mostly done by the whole family. While the men went fishing, the women cleaned the nets when they returned from the catch. The residents of Fažana have remained loyal to fishing to this day.
