Germany seeks the superstar
In autumn 2005 she took part in the auditions for the talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar on the German TV station RTL . Against the competition of over 1200 applicants, Dedmon made it to the bottom three candidates. In the penultimate broadcast of the season, however, it failed in the telephone audience vote on the eventual winner Tobias Regner . During the eliminations, she fell in love with her competitor Mike Leon Grosch . They got closer when Dedmon and Grosch rehearsed and sang the duet by Jeanette Biedermann and Ronan Keating We've Got Tonight . The relationship ended three months after the final broadcast.

Solo career
In contrast to her two DSDS opponents Regner and Grosch, who both released their respective winning song immediately after the final, Vanessa Jean did not bring her winning song Learn to Breathe onto the market. It took her six months to release her own single. This collaborative effort with the German rap group Rapsoul appeared in early October 2006 and hit the German charts. She parted ways with her management team N6 on October 26, 2006. In December 2008 Dedmon formed the formation RecAllstars with casting artists from pop stars , Germany is looking for the superstar, Star Search and Stefan is looking for the super grand prix star . In addition to the version sung by all participating artists, the download single Christmas Time contained 14 other versions, in which the song was also interpreted by each artist in their own way. For the album Merry Christmas! they contributed the song Please Come Home for Christmas . Since the end of 2010, Dedmon has been under contract with the British label Stagevisions. She then released the single Missing You Bad . The single It's Just a Lie followed in 2011, but it is only available as a download.
