Vernon is a city in Washington County in the US state of Florida with 687 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Vernon is about 25 km southwest of Chipley and about 140 km west of Tallahassee .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 687 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 510 households. The population density was 56.3 inh / km². 78.7% of the population identified themselves as whites, 14.3% as African American , 3.5% as Indians and 0.3% as Asian Americans . 1.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.9% to several ethnic groups. 3.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 29.6% of all households lived in 29.2% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 65.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.41 people and the average family size was 2.96 people.
