Vesuvio (wine)
With the name Vesuvio DOC , Italian red , rosé and white wines as well as sparkling wine and fortified wine can be produced on the slopes of Vesuvius in the metropolitan city of Naples , Campania region . Since 1983 the wines have had the status of a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC), which was last updated on March 7, 2014. In addition to the name “Vesuvio”, wines with the name Lacrima Christi DOC are also produced under this denomination - sometimes also written “Lacryma Christi”.
Cultivation
The approved zone for cultivation and vinification includes the municipalities of Boscotrecase , Trecase and San Sebastiano al Vesuvio , all in the metropolitan city of Naples .
generation
Eight different types of wine can be produced under this denomination:
- Vesuvio Bianco as well as Lacrima Christi Bianco , Lacrima Christi Spumante and Lacrima Christi Liquoroso : must consist of at least 35% from the grape variety Coda di Volpe (locally also called "Caprettone" or "Crapettone") and a maximum of 45% from Verdeca . A maximum of 20% Falanghina and Greco Bianco may be added.
- Vesuvio Rosso , Vesuvio Rosato as well as Lacrima Christi Rosso and Lacrima Christi Rosato : must consist of at least 50% of the grape variety Piedirosso (locally also called "Palombina") and a maximum of 30% of Sciascinoso (locally also called "Olivella"). A maximum of 20% Aglianico may be added.
