Victor Hlolo Phalana

Victor Hlolo Phalana (born April 3, 1961 in Erasmus , Transvaal , South Africa ) is a South African clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Klerksdorp .

Life

Victor Hlolo Phalana, whose adoptive parents taught in Catholic schools, received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Pretoria on May 14, 1988 . From 1993 to 1995 he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University and obtained the licentiate in theology of spirituality . After his return he worked as a spiritual and lecturer in the training of priests and in pastoral care. He was also secretary of the South African Council of Priests.

From 2007 he was parish administrator of the Cathedral of Pretoria and from 2011 vicar general in the Archdiocese of Pretoria.

On November 24, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Klerksdorp . He was ordained episcopal on January 25 of the following year by the Archbishop of Pretoria , William Slattery OFM . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Kimberley , Abel Gabuza , and the Bishop of Queenstown , Dabula Anthony Mpako .
