The Rohrbach is a brook on the municipality marker of Oppenweiler in the Rems-Murr district in northern Baden-Württemberg , which, after a good 4 km run, flows approximately to the south-southeast near the center of Oppenweiler from the right into the middle Murr .
geography
course
The Rohrbach arises in the forest slope of Katzenbach in the north to northwest of the Oppenweiler hamlet Rohrbach , which is largely on the Oppenweiler municipality marker, and to a lesser extent in the west on the district marker of Kleinaspach in the neighboring municipality of Aspach . Over the headwaters of the Rohrbach , which is made up of three larger headwaters , the so-called Hohe Straße runs past the beech oak on a ridge from west to east, behind which the catchment area of the Winterlauter begins with the Brenntenhau forest . The three spring streams converging like a fan, of which at least one is presumably called Katzenbach after the winning name, all begin inconsistently at an altitude of about 420 m above sea level. NN under the 50 to 60 meters higher forest ridge. Shortly before the edge of the corridor at about 323 m above sea level. NN they are all united to the Rohrbach, which then enters the corridor island around the hamlet of the same name next to a pond on a south-south-east run from there with small changes of direction accompanied by a tree gallery.
First of all, it crosses the northern part of the hamlet, the "Hinteren Rohrbach", and only then takes in a shorter inflow from the right from a railing channel at the edge of the forest, then the Hirtenbach from the northeast across from the southern group of houses "Vorderen Rohrbach" on a hill , its most important tributary with a length of 1.2 km, which arises on the edge of the Oppenweiler hamlet of Schiffrain . Further down, the forest ring almost closes again around the corridor of the hamlet and the stream, after taking in the Fronbach , which is approaching along its edge, runs through a valley tip of the Fronwald in a flatter course . Towards the end of this last, only about 600 m long stretch of forest it amplifies a short forest inflow and immediately after the stream from the predominantly open conical blade , both approximately of the west.
The end of the forest is soon followed by sports fields, then on the left of the run an outdoor swimming pool on the edge of the settlement of the village of Oppenweiler, which it now enters along the cemetery. Soon it crosses under the B 14 , the main street of the village, and then, behind the row of houses on its east side, reaches the edge of the castle park around the former moated castle Oppenweiler , today the seat of the municipal administration, which is located on the island of the half-hectare lake in the park, the short one , feeds the branch off to the right of the Rohrbach. The Rohrbach itself runs around the castle park in a left-hand arc of almost 400 meters in length, after which it flows out at around 255 m above sea level. NN in the last southern direction from the right into the middle Murr .
The Rohrbach is 4.2 km long, which it traverses with a mean slope of about 39 ‰, and flows about 165 meters below its source.
Catchment area
The catchment area of Rohrbachs comprises 4.6 square kilometers, and is located predominantly in the subspace Southwest Löwensteiner mountains of the natural space Schwäbisch-Franconian Forest , a keuper mountain scenery , which merges in the mouth region in the valley landscape of Murr, which already for subspace exterior Backnanger bay of the adjacent natural environment Neckarbecken expected becomes. The highest watershed is the ridge in the far north, on which the Hohe Straße runs and its height between a minimum of 471.6 m above sea level. NN and a knoll north of Schiffrain with 494 m above sea level. NN fluctuates.
Behind this ridge, the Wolfsklingenbach drains to the Winterlauter in the western and central part, and the Marderbächlein to its receiving water “Spiegelberger” Lauter in the east , the largest tributary of the Murr further up on its course. Beyond the eastern catchment area border, the smaller Tierbach flows to the Murr, it flows only about half a kilometer above. About twice as far down the still insignificant Murr leads the outflow south of the Rohrbach catchment area to the Murr in the local area of Oppenweiler, while of the two competitors beyond the western watershed, the Eckertsbach in its lower area and the Forstbach in its upper area, the one is a larger Murr tributary than the Rohrbach itself and the other flows into a much larger one, the Klöpferbach .
There is forest on about three fifths of the catchment area. The open terrain is divided into the clearing island around the hamlet of Rohrbach, most of another, higher clearing island around Schiffrain and the corridor open to the Murr after the Fronwald on the right side of the Rohrbach and on the left on the spur of the Schiffrainberg in front of the Tierbachtal with a large wedge Oppenweiler settlement area at the mouth. Around Rohrbach the meadows dominate, otherwise the area around Schiffrain is more like fields, the Murr to more orchards the agriculturally used area.
Settlements are the two groups of houses in the hamlet of Rohrbach , mainly the hamlet of Schiffrain , a small part of the Wilhelmsheim sanatorium and part of the village of Oppenweiler itself. In the western Fronwald, the deserted area of the former Charlottenhof lies in the area of the watershed to the Eckertsbach. Slightly more than 90% of the drained area lies on the municipality mark of Oppenweiler, the rest in the northwest is forest area in the municipality of Kleinaspach in the municipality of Aspach .

Origin of the Rohrbach at a little over 420 m above sea level. NN in the hillside forest Katzenbach approx. 0.8 km north of the hamlet Rohrbach and approx. 0.9 km northwest of the hamlet Schiffrain , both to Oppenweiler . The creek, which at first like its two tributaries in the original forest, is unstable, flows southwest at first.

geology
The overall catchment area of the Rohrbach lies in the Mittelkeuper. The ridge height in the north in the area of Hohen Straße protrudes into the Stubensandstein ( Löwenstein Formation ), the headwaters lie below in the transition over the Upper Bunten Marl ( Mainhardt Formation ), which spreads out on a narrow strip, to the Kieselsandstein ( Hassberge Formation ), the further downwards on both sides of the valley basin covered wide areas. The source streams finally flow together, after further strips of slope of the Lower Bunter Mergeln ( Steigerwald formation ) and the reed sandstone ( Stuttgart formation ), only in the Gipskeuper ( grave field formation ), in which the clearing island around the hamlet of Rohrbach is surrounded by heights of pebble sandstone. In the area of the Fronwald Passage of the stream, these plateaus almost touch each other again from both sides, down the valley from this Gipskeuper is only on the upper right slope, while loess sediment from Quaternary deposits the lower Schiffrainberg spur in front of the Tierbachtal on the left and all lower layers on the right of the barrel covers. The Rohrbach finally flows into the floodplain sediment of the Murrtalsgrund, in front of the river it has deposited a confluence fan that has grown together with that of the Tierbach.
The extensive subsidence zone of the Neckar-Jagst furrow runs through the catchment area from west-south-west to east-north-east in the area of the Fronwald . Half a dozen fault lines approximately parallel to the furrows have been found there, with a sunken and somewhat fragmented clod in the middle; The fact that the silica-sandstone spur of the Fronwald extends eastward to close to the stream is probably due to the reversal of the relief ; the layers of the middle keuper above the plaster keuper abruptly expose on the edge heights after the next disturbance.
Protected areas
The entire catchment area lies in the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park . The open valley landscape of the Rohrbach up to a little after the tributary of the creek from the Erlenklinge, including this, the forest-free Schiffrainberg opposite and the upper Hirtenbachtal below Schiffrain, is part of the protected landscape area Rohrbachtal with Reichenberg , which extends eastward to over the neighboring Tierbachtal. Below the hamlet of Hinterer Rohrbach, the Rohrbach flows through the clearing island of the hamlet through the extensive natural monument wetlands of the rear Rohrbach valley , almost immediately afterwards in the area of the forest passage the natural monument Feuchtwiese and alluvial forest . Then there is a multi-stem willow at the inflow from the Erlenklinge natural monument.
