Viktor Fischer (born October 19, 1892 in Graz , † 1977 ) was an Austrian wrestler . He won the world championship title in Vienna in 1920 .
Career
Viktor Fischer grew up in Graz and started wrestling there as a teenager. As early as 1910, he participated with great success in many championships that were held at that time. He started in 1911 for the Viennese sports club in the Greco-Roman style in the light and middleweight classes, which was common in Central Europe at the time.
In 1912 and 1924 he took part in the Olympic Games in Stockholm and Paris . In Stockholm he won two fights in the lightweight, but lost the next two fights and came in 15th place out of 48 participants. In Paris he started in the middleweight division and achieved an excellent 5th place with four wins and two defeats.
Viktor Fischer celebrated his greatest success at the 1920 World Cup in Vienna . He won six fights and became world middleweight champion in a superior style. At the European Championships in Vienna in 1912 and in Budapest in 1913 Viktor had already won a bronze medal in the lightweight.
In 1921 Viktor Fischer moved to Cologne for economic reasons and joined the Cologne club for strength training in 1893. He continued to be very successful and was 1922 German fighting game winner in Berlin , 1923 German middleweight champion in Erfurt and again in 1926 German fighting game winner in Cologne middleweight.
Viktor Fischer won the Austrian championship title in 1912 in the lightweight, in 1919 in the middleweight and in 1924 in the light heavyweight division. In 1929 Viktor Fischer emigrated to Paraguay . But since he could not stand the local climate, he returned to Vienna in 1930. After the war Viktor Fischer lived in Albérstrasse. 9 in Graz, with his wife Emmy Fischer, born Kirsch, from Cologne, until his death.
