Vojtěch Mozík (born December 26, 1992 in Prague ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract with Färjestad BK from Svenska Hockeyligan since July 2019, where he plays the position of defender .

Career

Vojtěch Mozík went through the youth departments of BK Mladá Boleslav until he made his debut for the team in the 2011/12 season in the Extraliga , the top Czech division. At the end of this season, however, the defender and his team were relegated to the first division before he was selected in the KHL Junior Draft 2012 in 69th position by HC Lev Prague . In the second-rate first division, the Czech only played five games before returning to the extra league by being loaned to HC Škoda Plzeň . In January 2013 he was already committed there and then won the playoffs for the Czech championship with Plzeň .

In the following two years Mozík increased his personal statistics significantly, so in the 2014/15 season he led all defenders of the Extraliga in goals (10; with three other players) and placed fourth on the scorer list. With these achievements, he also attracted attention in North America and therefore decided in June 2015 to move to the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League (NHL). For now, however, the defender was used in their farm team , the Albany Devils , in the American Hockey League (AHL) before he made his NHL debut in March 2016, where he came to a total of seven games in the highest league in North America. However, the Czech was unable to establish himself there, so after the 2016/17 season, which he had spent exclusively in the AHL, he returned to Europe and joined the HK Vitjas from the Continental Hockey League (KHL). In Podolsk he promptly rose to the top of the list and represented his team at the KHL All-Star Game 2018.

At the beginning of July 2019, Mozík signed a two-year contract with Färjestad BK from Svenska Hockeyligan after his KHL contract had expired at the end of the 2018/19 season.

International

Mozík gained his first international experience during the U20 World Cup in 2012 , where he finished fifth with the Czech U20 national team . In the 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2017/18 seasons, the defender took part in events on the Euro Hockey Tour sporadically with the senior national team before he was called up to the Czech squad for the 2018 Winter Olympics in January 2018 . In Pyeongchang he finished fourth with the team.
