The Volksbank eG Stormarn was a cooperative bank and was based in Bad Oldesloe . The institute was merged into Volksbank Vierlanden Bergedorf Stormarn .

With total assets of around 577 million euros, Volksbank Stormarn eG was one of the larger Volksbanks in Schleswig-Holstein . The bank was owned by the 8,287 members of the cooperative .

As a registered cooperative (eG) , Volksbank was a member of the Cooperative Association and the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks (BVR) .

history

In 1954, the Volksbank Bergedorf eGmbH was founded by Bergedorf business people at the founding meeting at Gasthof Heinrich Olff, and the first business premises were opened at Mohnhof 14 in Hamburg-Bergedorf that same year . In 1955 the first branch on Lohbrügger Markt followed. In 1956, the cooperative acquired the Sachsentor 55 property in Hamburg-Bergedorf, which was temporarily used as the bank's headquarters and - together with the neighboring property No. 57, which was later purchased - still serves as the location of the Bergedorf office today. Further branches were opened in Reinbek (1958), Trittau (1961) and Glinde (1964). The first merger with Volksbank eG Bad Oldesloe followed in 1987, and the branches in Bad Oldesloe and Reinfeld (Holstein) were added. The merger with Raiffeisenbank Ochsenwerder in 1989 expanded the branch network again. In 1990 Volksbank Stormarn eG first founded its first subsidiary, G&H Vermögensverwaltung GmbH. In 1992 WVB Immobilien GmbH was added. The merger of Volksbank Stormarn eG with Raiffeisenbank eG , Bad Oldesloe in 2003 was the last merger of the credit institute operating as a universal bank . In 2012 Volksbank Stormarn eG founded an official branch under the name Volksbank Bergedorf in order to underpin the regional ties to the founding location. In autumn 2017, the boards of directors of Volksbank Stormarn eG and Vierländer Volksbank eG, based in Hamburg, started talks about a merger. The merger of the two banks, retroactive to January 1, 2018, was resolved unanimously at the representatives' meetings on May 16 and 17, 2018. The merger to form Volksbank eG, VBS (Vierlanden Bergedorf Stormarn) was registered on September 7, 2018. The technical merger of the two companies took place on September 15, 2018.

Business area

The bank had a total of 11 branches in Hamburg (two branches of the Volksbank Bergedorf branch ), in the Stormarn district (seven branches) and in the Segeberg district (two branches). The business area extended from the south-eastern Hamburg city area over the Stormarn and Segeberg districts to shortly before Lübeck .

Volksbank Stormarn eG supported regional projects such as sports clubs , youth fire brigades , leisure facilities and children's groups.

Since 2016, Volksbank Stormarn eG has also been operating a crowdfunding platform that can be used by these groups . On the crowdfunding platform, recognized non-profit associations and organizations from the bank's business area were able to collect donations for their own projects . The collected donations were additionally supported by the Volksbank from a donation pot.

Citizens' Prize Bergedorf

Together with the Bergedorfer Zeitung , Volksbank Stormarn eG has been awarding the Bergedorf Citizens' Prize annually since 1999 for extraordinary voluntary work for the benefit of others.

Sports stars

Also annually, Volksbank Stormarn eG, together with other participating cooperative banks and the German Olympic Sports Association, awarded the Sports Stars , in which regionally active clubs are honored for their special ideas and achievements for their commitment. The greatest success in this competition was the award of the Hoisbütteler Sportverein from 1955 e. V. in January 2013 in Berlin. In 2012, the association applied for the Sports Stars at Volksbank Stormarn eG with its project "Integration Sports / Inclusive Sports - Sport for All" and qualified for the national finals with successes at regional and state level.

Youth creative

Volksbank Stormarn eG offered young artists the opportunity to participate in the international youth competition, jugend creativ, organized by the Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken since the 1970s . The greatest success in this competition was the submission of an application which achieved victory at the federal level in age group 2 (1st to 4th grade) in 2012.

Gabriele-Karola and Martin Hill Foundation

Volksbank Stormarn eG supported this foundation, which helps ensure that an apprenticeship does not fail because of economic circumstances, the origin or the current credentials of a young person. The foundation was founded by a former board member of what was then Volksbank Bergedorf and his wife.
