The 2004/05 season of the Volleyball Champions League began on November 3, 2004 with the group stage and ended with the final on March 27, 2005 in Thessaloniki . 20 teams from twelve nations took part in the competition. Tours volleyball from France won the title.
The SCC Berlin finished with four wins in eight games in third place in Group C and qualified for the play-offs . There, the Charlottenburg lost twice to Paris and were eliminated.
The VfB Friedrichshafen finished with a balanced record of four wins and losses in third place in group A. Compared with the fourth-placed VfB Maaseik with identical rate ratio had minimal lead in the ball points. There was also a close decision in the first play-off round against Athens. After each 3-1 victories of the two teams, the ball point ratio decided in favor of the Germans, who met Maaseik again in the second knockout round. Both games only ended in the tie-break and in the end Friedrichshafen had exactly one ball point advantage. In the Final Four, VfB could not win a set against Tours and Belgorod and took fourth place.
The Aon hotVolleys Vienna managed five wins in Group B and reached the playoffs as third in the table, where they were defeated against Treviso.
Hypo Tirol Innsbruck failed to win in Group C. The Austrians were eliminated as bottom of the table after the preliminary round.
Group stage
In the drawing, the qualified teams were divided into four groups with five participants each. The top three teams in each group (and Maaseik in fourth) advanced to the next round.
As hosts, Thessaloniki was automatically qualified for the Final Four . Three other three participants were determined in two play-off rounds with a return leg. These games were on the 8./9. and 15./16. February or 1st to 3rd and 8th to 10th March

Final Four
At the Final Four on March 25 and 26, 2006 in Thessaloniki , the host, who was determined by the CEV after the group matches were over, played against the three teams that qualified in the play-offs. Tours VB won the final against the Greeks. Belgorod secured third place against Friedrichshafen.
