Volodymyr Malanczuk

Volodymyr Malanczuk CSsR ( Ukrainian Володимир Маланчук; born August 20, 1904 in Bazar (near Chortkiv ) Austria-Hungary ; † September 29, 1990 in Canada ), also Vladimir Malanczuk, was the first Apostolic Exarch of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church for France , Belgium , Luxembourg , the Netherlands and Switzerland , its official seat is in Paris .

Life

Volodymyr Malanczuk entered the Congregation of the Redemptorists and was on 26 April 1931 religious priests ordained. Pope John XXII. appointed the then Provincial in Canada on July 22, 1960 as the first exarch of the newly established Apostolic Exarchate of France . At the same time he was appointed titular bishop of Epiphany in Syria .

On 19 February 1961 he consecrated Archbishop Maxim Hermaniuk CSsR of Winnipeg and the co-consecrators Archbishop Ambrozij Andrew Senyshyn OSBM of Stamford ( USA ) and Bishop Isidore Borecky of Toronto bishop. As Exarch of France he assisted as co-consecrator at Andrés Sapelak SDB to titular bishop of Sebastopolis in Thracia and auxiliary bishop in Argentina and Miroslaw Marusyn to titular bishop of Cadi as curia archbishop . Bishop Malanczuk was a participant in the four sessions of the Second Vatican Council (1962–1965).

On November 27, 1982 Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation, his successor being Michel Hrynchyshyn . Bishop Malanczuk returned to his retirement back to Canada and died on 29 September 1990 relating to a monastery of the Redemptorists.
