history

The settlement of Hunwald was established between 1605 and 1608 when the owner of the Friedland estate , Katharina von Redern , had 15 wooden chalets built on the Hochwald. Hunwald was the highest village of the rule and reached up to 639 m above sea level. M. Since 1635 the place was on the border with Electoral Saxony. In 1834 Hohenwald consisted of 31 houses and 185 inhabitants. From 1642 until it was abolished in 1849, the Zücker family held the office of sitter. In 1830 a Dutch windmill was built on the Kahleberg .

After the abolition of patrimonial Hohenwald formed from 1850 a district of the Christiansau community in the Friedland judicial district . At that time, home weaving was the main source of income for the residents. During the German War , the Prussian army crossed the border into Austria and destroyed the Wittiger windmill.

In 1880 234 people lived in the village. The connecting road from Olbersdorf to Ober Wittig was built between 1898 and 1899 . Until 1894, only members of the Zücker family were elected mayor one after the other. Hohenwald was parish after Ober Wittig. At the end of the 19th century more houses were built in the village, but the number of inhabitants decreased. In 1900 Hohenwald consisted of 42 houses and 206 inhabitants, all of whom belonged to the German ethnic group. The center of the village was the Kretscham , in it was the inn and a bakery and butcher's shop; at the same time it was the seat of the honorary local mayor. School locations were Ober Wittig and Olbersdorf. Three border routes led to Reichenau in Saxony . There were two restaurants, a shop and a roofer in the village.

After the Munich Agreement , the village was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Friedland district until 1945 . In 1939 only 136 people lived in the place. After the war ended, the village came back to Czechoslovakia and the German residents were expelled. The village was renamed Vysoký in 1946 and from 1958 belonged to the municipality of Heřmanice in the Okres Frýdlant. The repopulation took place only to a small extent and many of the new settlers soon left the remote place. Since the 1960s, Vysoký was almost completely abandoned and most of the houses were left to decay. These were then torn down. At the beginning of 1961 it was incorporated into Dětřichov and in 1986 to Frýdlant. Since November 1990 Vysoký is a basic settlement unit of the municipality Heřmanice . Vysoký no longer has permanent residents.
