history

In 1742 the place with most of Silesia came to Prussia. The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Beytrage for the description of Silesia as Wendzin and belonged to a Herr von Paczensky and was in the Lublinitz district (Lublinetz) of the Principality of Opole . At that time he had two farms, a mill, 13 farmers, 32 gardeners , five cottagers and 196 residents. In 1865 Wendzin consisted of a manor and a village. At that time the place had two farms, 16 half-farmers, 31 outdoor gardeners and ten cottagers, as well as a water mill with two gears. Some of the residents went to work in the nearby pits and huts. The residents were parish off to Schierokau and the school that was built in 1800 had 200 students at that time. The manor belonged to the Rittmeister von Spiegel and had a blast furnace and a fresh fire. The Vorwerke Kierotze, Quast and Scherlint belonged to the manor.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 237 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 257 for membership in Poland. Wendzin remained with the German Empire after the division of Upper Silesia . In 1936 the place was renamed Windeck in the wake of a wave of renaming during the Nazi era . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Loben (meanwhile in the district of Guttentag ).

In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then joined to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Wędzina . In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1975 the place came to the newly founded Voivodeship Czestochowa . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Lubliniecki and to the new Silesian Voivodeship.
