Wilhelm Adolph Theodor Müller , later Müller-Neuhaus (* 1874 ; † after 1951), was a German engineer, vehicle designer and entrepreneur (“Müller trains”) and economist . Müller always led his name with a prefixed W. A. Th. Instead of the written variant of his first name.

Life

Wilhelm Müller was a senior engineer at Siemens-Schuckertwerke . In addition, he worked on the " Train Renard " developed by the brothers Charles and Paul Renard , a train for the road. He published his study results in 1907 in the technical publishing house M. Krayn, Berlin .

In 1907 he founded the company Wilhelm A. Th. Müller Straßenzug- Ges.mbH (short: Wilhelm A. Th. Müller GmbH ) in Berlin-Steglitz, which existed under this name until 1914. The share capital was initially 100,000  marks (adjusted for purchasing power in today's currency: around 609,000 euros). 1908 joined Werdauer merchant Wilhelm Schön joined the company as a partner. The share capital was increased to 400,000 marks. To support him, he hired the mechanical engineer Erwin Aders , who remained in the company as a designer until he moved to Büssing in 1912. Together with Aders, he developed the first road truck with a total payload of 30 t by 1908  . The two motors of the tractor also supplied the electricity for the wheel hub motors of the entire train.

During the First World War , Wilhelm Müller served in the 27th Reserve Regiment, then in the motor vehicle inspection, finally in the rank of captain (later: captain d. R. ).

In 1921 - together with the businessman Walther von Wiese - the company was resumed and continued under the name of Müllerzug limited liability company, which has now become common . Using the sales brochure Without Road Construction and Rail Track, Müller-Neuhaus wanted to open up wasteland and heath with his “Müllerzug” and transport remote raw materials to their processing centers.

Müller's Berlin company manufactured and operated motor vehicle trains. In addition, the business operations included the "buying and selling of motor vehicles and tractors of other types as well as the establishment and operation of road and land transport facilities ". For the use of his vehicles, Wilhelm Müller researched, among other things, the use of rubber tires using a cab from Siemens-Schuckertwerke .

The “otto-electric” and trolley- electric (see: hybrid electric vehicle ) truck and bus trains with later payloads of up to 60 t were delivered worldwide between 1907 and 1938. As early as 1911, the army administration was also considering the military trial of the “Müllerzug”. In contrast to the “heavy army truck” built by Siemens-Schuckertwerke with a payload of only 15 t, the “Müllerzug” was able to transport twice as much.

Every self-tracking two-axle trailer had an electric motor-driven standard rotary axis . The twin-engine train cars had outputs of 110, 132 and 184  kW . In addition to the road, the trains could also be operated on rails and under overhead lines. These were mainly used by the Breslauer Actien-Gesellschaft für Eisenbahn-Wagenbau und Maschinenbau-Anstalt Breslau (emerged from the Breslauer A.-G. für Eisenbahn-Wagenbau and Maschinenbau-Anstalt Breslau GmbH ; later merged into the Linke-Hofmann- Waggonfabrik Bush ). For example, Wilhelm Müller also delivered during the First World War. In 1916, Müller's company in Australia was one of the “most hopeful” German companies in connection with parliamentarian R. S. Falkiner.

In 1940 Wilhelm Müller received a patent for "electrical power transmission for the multi-wheel drive of motor vehicle trains and heavy vehicles".

Others

Wilhelm Müller-Neuhaus became a member of the Kant Society in 1920 - at that time living at Kronprinzenufer 23 in Berlin . He was also a member of the Electrotechnical Association . He later lived in Schwerin on Lake Teupitzer (at that time: Teltow district ), there at Dorfstrasse 2.

He stayed in Schwerin even after the Second World War . After in September 1952 by the Politburo of the SED adopted "law to protect public property and other public property" VESchG he was dispossessed of its assets (term 1946-1951).
