history
Ulrich, Heinrich and Konrad von Waldprechting are mentioned for the first time in 1121 because they donated goods to the St. Peter monastery. They can be seen as ministers of the Archbishops of Salzburg . In 1170 the Burgrave Meingoz (or Megingot) and his wife Diemud gave the Weitprechting estate to the cathedral chapter of Salzburg. Diemud (t) von Högl, married four times, was able to take over the office of castallana (castle countess) of Hohensalzburg after the death of her second husband, Burgrave Megingot II . With her death in 1213, the records of Waldprechting end for the next 300 years.
Culture and sights
- The Bischofsgut Waldprechting is a strikingly mighty stone house, which possibly contains the residential tower of the Lords of Seekirchen in the core. The Waldprechting estate comprised the three courtyards Bischofshof, Wallnerhof and Klampfererhof as well as five mills and the St. Nicholas Church.
- The Waldprechting branch church can look back on 1300 years of existence. The dating around 700 AD results from the characteristic shape of the stone churches in the Salzburg Alpine foothills, but only a few remains of this building are left. The church was built as an "own church" for the landlord and as a cemetery church for the family. In the Romanesque era, this first chapel was replaced by a larger building; the Lords of Högl, ministerials of the Salzburg archbishops, are believed to be the builders. The construction of the late Gothic church was financed around 1500 by granting an indulgence. This was built on the foundations of a previous Romanesque building. In 1517 the eaves were reached, and the dedication inscription on the west wall of the nave ("Archbishop Leonhart Van Saltzburg ") with the year 1519 refers to the completion of the church building. The church was consecrated on October 18, 1523 by the Bishop of Chiemsee, Berthold Pürstinger. In 1690 a sacristy was added to the north. In 1707 the tower was given its present shape; Instead of the Gothic roof, an eight-sided bell dome with a double onion roof was put on. In 1753 the dilapidated late Gothic rib vault was replaced by the baroque stab cap barrel that still exists today. The entrance gate to the church dates from the time the late Gothic church was built.
