history

In 1972 Luigi Tiziano Peccenini opened the first language center in Italy. After a rapid expansion in Italy - 48 new branches within 5 years - the Wall Street Institute first opened Europe-wide from 1983, then new locations worldwide. On May 15, 2013, the Wall Street Institute underwent a rebranding and changed the name to Wall Street English. The new name is intended to create a globally uniform appearance and at the same time emphasize that the language school has specialized in teaching the English language. The new logo shows a square speech bubble in which a door opens. This is to make it clear that learning the English language opens up new opportunities. In 2016, Wall Street English took first place in the DEUTSCHLAND TEST among the English language schools in Germany.

On April 6, 2016, Wall Street English announced that all German schools would be closed until the end of 2016, with the following reason: “With this high level of English, which is becoming more and more popular among the population, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain the high standard of Wall To deliver Street English education that you as our students are used to and rightly expect from us. That is why we made the very painful decision to end our operational business in Germany. "

The background is, however, that the employment agency (main customer of Wall Street English) no longer wanted to approve further training courses for jobseekers at the Wall Street English institute. Wall Street English had failed to keep course materials up to date. The English courses in the higher levels were conducted with materials from the 1990s. As a result, Wall Street English could not provide a high quality education. As a result, other customers stayed away.

methodology

Learn English in small groups.jpg

Wall Street English uses the blended learning method. This includes the following elements:

  • Interactive learning units : Students learn vocabulary and pronunciation through everyday situations in a multimedia format. The pupil acquires speaking skills by listening and repeating the vocabulary.
  • Digital Book : After the interactive learning unit, written exercises are worked on. These exercises are based on the vocabulary from the interactive lessons.
  • Encounters : The knowledge acquired is applied in small groups of up to 5 people. The courses are accompanied by native speaking teachers.
  • Communication Class : In a group with learners at the same level, different topics are discussed in English.
  • Social Club : Books, films and magazines are designed to introduce students to English culture. Leisure activities are completed together with the study group.

Since May 2013, Wall Street English has been offering two further series of courses: individual and group courses from the Market Leader program for companies as well as subject-specific courses (e.g. travel, careers). Since February 2015 there has also been a TOEFL preparation course, which prepares for the renowned language test in eight to ten weeks.

All courses are completed with an internationally recognized English certificate. The curricula correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the Cambridge Examinations for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). The Business Language Testing Service, or BULATS for short, is a test that was developed in collaboration with Cambridge ESOL, the Goethe Institute , the University of Salamanca and the Alliance française for English, German, French and Spanish. This tests the job-related language skills. After completing a course level, every student can take the BULATS test and acquire an internationally recognized BULATS certificate.
