The Wallpfad is a tourist project that was implemented in the Uckermark in 2005 . The approx. 70 km long rampart path can be traveled on foot or by bike, leads past numerous historical sites in the Uckermark and touches on different cultural epochs.

Surname

The name is composed of "Wall" referring to castle walls, the "path" is the path that leads to the castle wall.

The route leads from Warnitz (church, built in 1738) over Zimmerberg ( stone box ), on to Blankenburg (Wallberg of a former Slavic castle), Seehausen (former monastery site ), Potzlow (market square, Roland figure and church), Strehlow ( church ruins , boulder ), Röpersdorf (church), Sternhagen (church), the Fünf-Seen-Blick (phallus stone), Fergitz (castle wall island, demon stones in the church, former water mill), Flieth (church ruins), Vossberg ( tumulus on the Pechberg), Suckow (ice cellar, hereditary graves which von Arnim () Stegelitz Church), United Fredenwalde u (tomb from the Mesolithic period, Slavic u. medieval castle wall, stone church. Block box

Block box on the Zimmerberg

The block box is located on the Zimmerberg near the Warnitz motorway exit (BAB11) at a height of approx. 106 m . In this dolmen they were buried. In the Melzow Forest, many stone boxes were discovered during the construction of the motorway in the 1930s. The block box on the Zimmerberg is the only one that has not been destroyed in this region and was prepared in 1986. 53 ° 11 '  N , 13 ° 57'  E

Slavic castle

Cistercian monastery Marienwerder

The Marienwerder monastery was located south of today's village of Seehausen . The oldest documentary mention can be found in a letter from Bishop Wilhelm von Kammin, dated November 19, 1250.

The former Cistercian monastery (nunnery) was on the Marienwerder peninsula. In the Middle Ages, the peninsula was connected to the Burgwallinsel in Oberuckersee by a covered wooden bridge .

During excavations on the Werder (meaning: peninsula ), diving finds and underwater excavations in the Oberuckersee between 1984 and 1991, remains of foundations came to light, and more than 20,000 objects from monastery life were found. Parts of the finds can be seen in the Cultural History Museum in the Dominican monastery in Prenzlau . 53 ° 12 '  N , 13 ° 53'  E

Center of the Uckermark

The geographic center of the Uckermark is on the road from Seehausen to Potzlow , near the canal bridge ( Ucker ) at Seehausen. Near the center there is a 6-ton boulder with a memorial plaque and a covered seating area. The actual geographical center is in the nature reserve. 53 ° 13 '  N , 13 ° 52'  E

The Seenblick rest area is on the cycle path between Potzlow and Fergitz. There is also the phallic stone nearby.

Burgwallinsel

At Fergitz (west bank) and Warnitz (east bank) in the Oberuckersee is the castle wall island , on which a Slavic feudal castle and settlement center was built around 1100 . 53 ° 11 '  N , 13 ° 52'  E

Pechberg

The Pechberg (south-west of Suckow, near Vossberg) is one of the highest exposed points in the region and offers an impressive view over the Uckerseen to Prenzlau . The name comes from settlers who extracted pitch from wood containing pine . A barrow was built on the highest point of the mountain in the Bronze Age . 53 ° 9 '  N , 13 ° 50'  E

Groß Fredenwalde

In Groß Fredenwalde (south-west of Vossberg) there is a grave and cult site from the Mesolithic. It is the oldest known burial site in the Uckermark. In addition, there is an early Slavonic and later medieval castle wall, an originally late medieval stone church and a manor house from the Baroque period.
