Wilhelm Lang (organ builder)
Wilhelm Lang (born August 1, 1794 - October 18, 1858 ) was a German organ builder in Berlin .
Life
Wilhelm Lang was a student of Johann Simon Buchholz in Berlin and then worked for his son Carl August Buchholz , where he was also a works manager. In 1839 he and Ferdinand Dinse founded their own organ building workshop, Lang & Dinse, at Alte Jakobstrasse 71 in Berlin. Dinse had also worked at Buchholz and married a daughter of Wilhelm Lang.
After Wilhelm Lang's death in 1858, Dinse continued to run the workshop alone. The son Albert Lang founded his own company in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
Works (selection)
More than 15 new organs from the Lang & Dinse company are known today in the Mark Brandenburg, as well as repairs and other work. The organs were of good quality and were based on the models of Carl August Buchholz. Some have been preserved.
