Walter Eykmann (* 20th August 1937 in Sonsbeck ) is a German teacher and CSU - politicians .

Life

Walter Eykmann studied Latin , Catholic religious studies , social studies as well as philosophy and education at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg im Breisgau and at the Julius-Maximilians-University in Würzburg and after completing the first and second state exams he was at the Würzburg Riemenschneider-Gymnasium active, most recently as director of studies and seminar leader.

Eykmann received his doctorate in education from the Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg in 1989 , where he was appointed honorary professor for education in 2002.

Since 1959 he has been a member of the Catholic student union KDStV Cheruscia Würzburg in the CV . Eykmann is married and has two grown children.

From 1972 Eykmann was represented in the Würzburg city council and from 1978 belonged to the Bavarian state parliament , where in 1986 he became chairman of the committee for questions of the public service - the so-called "Eykmann Committee"; from 1978 to 1998 he was a member of the cultural policy committee. He is also a member of the parliamentary group's executive committee. He was no longer available for election to the state parliament in Bavaria in 2008 .

From 1991 to 2005 he was federal chairman of the Catholic Parents in Germany (KED), since 2005 its honorary chairman. He was awarded the Commander-in-Chief of the Papal New Year's Eve by Cardinal Friedrich Wetter for his services to Catholic religious instruction as well as to marriage and family .

In addition to his political involvement, Eykmann is involved in numerous honorary positions: as state chairman of the Bavarian Library Association, as chairman of the working committee of the Bavarian State Foundation and as deputy chairman of the media council and chairman of the finance committee of the Board of Trustees of the Academy for Political Education Tutzing . Thanks to Walter Eykmann's initiative for the Bavarian Palace Administration, the cabinet of mirrors in the Würzburg Residence was reopened in 1987.
