Wang Dahai ( Chinese 王大海 , Pinyin Wáng Dàhǎi ; born June 18, 1976 ) is a former Chinese ice hockey player and current coach, who was last under contract with China Dragon in the Asia League Ice Hockey until 2012 .
Career
Wang Dahai began his career as a hockey player in the local hockey team in Harbin, for which he played in the Chinese ice hockey league from 1997 . From 2004 he played with the team, which has called itself Hosa Ice Hockey Team since 2006 , in the Asia League Ice Hockey . In 1999, 2002, 2003 and 2005 he became Chinese champions with the team. In 2007, Hosa joined forces with Changchun Fu'ao , the second Chinese team in the Asia League, to form the China Sharks , for which Wang then played and who renamed themselves China Dragon in 2009 . There he ended his active career in 2012.
International
For China , Wang was initially on the squad for the C-World Championships in 1998 , 1999 and 2000 . After the conversion to the current division system, the defender played at the World Championships in Division I in 2001 , 2002 , 2005 and 2007 as well as in Division II in 2003 , 2004 , 2006 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 and 2012 . He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Turin 2006 .
Coaching career
Before the end of his active career, Wang was the assistant coach of the Chinese U20 team at the IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia . After taking care of the U18 team from China as assistant coach at the World Cup in Division III in 2013 , he also held the same position for the men's national team in Division II in 2013 and 2016 .
At the club level, Wang was assistant coach at China Dragon in the Asia League Ice Hockey from 2012 to 2014 .
