Wang Qishan

Wang Qishan ( Chinese  王岐山 , Pinyin Wáng Qíshān ; * July 1948 in Tianzhen ( Shanxi Province )) is a Chinese communist politician and has been Vice President of the PRC since March 2018.

Career

After serving as director of China Construction Bank from 1994 to 1997 and in Guangdong and Hainan Provinces , Wang Qishan was mayor of Beijing City from April 2003 to November 2007 . Wang has been a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China since 2007 and a member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China as Vice Prime Minister since 2008 . Since November 2012 he has been a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo . Since 2012, he has also been the secretary (head) of the CCP Central Disciplinary Commission . In October 2017 he had to give up both positions due to old age.

In March 2018 he was elected Vice President of the PRC.
