Li Zhanshu ( Chinese  栗 战 书 ; born August 30, 1950 in Pingshan County , Shijiazhuang City , Hebei Province ) is a politician in the People's Republic of China .

Political career

In 1975, Li joined the Chinese Communist Party . He spent most of his career in the party leadership at the district and provincial levels of Hebei. There he was last a member of the Standing Committee of the CCP Provincial Committee from 1993 to 1998. During the same period he was also a member of the National People's Congress .

In 1998 he moved to Shaanxi Province in the same position . There he was party secretary and chairman of the People's Congress of Xi'an City from 2002 to 2004 .

After moving to Heilongjiang Province , he was Deputy Party Secretary of the province from 2003 to 2010 and initially Deputy Governor from 2004 to 2007 and then Governor from 2008 to 2010.

From August 2010 to July 2012, Li was Party Secretary of Guizhou Province . Zhao Kezhi succeeded him in this position .

In September 2012, he was appointed head of the General Office of the CCP Central Committee in place of Ling Jihua .

During the 18th party congress in November 2012 he was elected a member of the Politburo and a member of the Central Secretariat. He has been a candidate since 2002 and has been a member of the CCP Central Committee since 2012.

On March 17, 2018, he was appointed Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress to succeed Zhang Dejiang .
