history

Until the beginning of the 19th century, Wartenfels was under the sovereignty of the Bamberg Monastery. The dominant village and community rule in the Franconian area for the sovereignty of the country was exercised by the latter's office in Wartenfels , whose administrative seat was in the local Wartenfels Castle . The high judiciary was also exercised by this office. When the bishopric of Bamberg was secularized as a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1802 and annexed by the Electorate Palatinate-Baiern in violation of the constitution , Wartenfels became part of the New Bavarian territories that were forcibly taken over during the "Napoleonic land consolidation" .

As a result of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , Wartenfels became a rural community with the Second Community Edict in 1818 , which also included Daigmühle , Eulenburg , Katzengraben , Oberehesberg , Schafhaus , Schafhof , Seubetenreuth , Spitzberg and Unterehesberg . In the course of the municipal regional reform in Bavaria in the 1970s, the municipality of Reichenbach with its districts Altenreuth , Haid and Schmölz was incorporated in 1976 . Two years later, on May 1, 1978, the municipality of Wartenfels was incorporated into Presseck itself. In 1987 the village had 538 inhabitants.
