description

The early Gothic hall church made of quarry stones was probably built by monks from the Benedictine Abbey of Saalfeld at the beginning of the 13th century. It has largely been preserved to this day, the plaster is only partially there. In the lower part of the retracted choir tower is the 4 m long and 3 m wide choir , which is spanned by a pointed arched barrel vault. In the middle of this room is the original stone altar . The window behind him in the east now has slugs . The 6 m × 8 m large nave , which is covered with a gable roof, has a pointed arched portal on the north side , the door of which can be locked from thick planks . The triumphal arch to the choir has no fighters . In the south wall there are two small early Gothic, pointed arched windows that are very high and only sparingly illuminate the interior . The nave is closed at the top by a wooden beam ceiling , above which is the access to the tower. In the upper floor of the tower are loopholes that were at the time required for the defense. The top part of the tower consists of beams , above which a tent roof rises .

The church has hardly been used since the beginning of the 17th century. After a fire in 1847, the church was no longer used for worship services. From then on it served as a fire station and warehouse . Since 1959 efforts were made to use the small church again for church services. In spring 1965, the unchanged building was used again for church purposes.

During a restoration in 1965 remains of a wall painting from the 14th / 15th centuries were found. Century exposed in the interior on the south wall. From her a Christ can be seen in the mandorla , to the right of him Mary and to the left John , as well as the apostle Andrew .

The church probably never had an organ . However, there is a 13th century bronze bell .
