church

A church in Weillohe is first documented in 1215, when Bishop Konrad III. von Regensburg handed over the churches of Weillohe to the monastery Prüll for usufruct . The whereabouts are not proven. The current church was built in the early 17th century. The St. Vitus branch church is a hall building with a hipped gable roof and a flank tower with a stepped gable . This tower originally had three bells , one of which was made in 1535 by the Regensburg bell founder Hans Durnknopf (1513–1553). The two-story sacristy is on the south side .

The nave of the church has three altars. The main altar is a two-pillar structure with a blown gable . The side altars of St. Catherine and the Mother of God are provided with screwed columns and date from around 1700. The high altar was erected in the second half of the 17th century and changed shortly before the First World War . The altarpiece was highlighted by an inserted plinth behind the tabernacle .

The altarpieces date from the 19th century. In the documents of the Bishop's Central Archive Regensburg (BZA) there is also a report of a Way of the Cross in the church . It dates from 1882 and was created by the Breekel brothers from Stadtamhof . The consecration of the Way of the Cross took place on September 17, 1882. The church is a listed building and is registered with the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation under the file number D-3-75-205-16.
