The Weinsberger Valley is located in the northwest of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains around 40 km north of Stuttgart and 60 km southeast of Heidelberg . It is named after the core town of Weinsberg , about 5 km (each as the crow flies ) east-northeast of Heilbronn , through which the Sulm flows as the right tributary of the Neckar . It is part of the Württemberg lowlands in the Württemberg wine-growing region .

The Sulm flows at the foot of the main town of Löwenstein at the upper end of the valley, through its town and then through some suburbs of the Obersulm community . Below is Ellhofen on the bank, then the Sulm crosses the urban area of Weinsberg . The last two valley locations are Erlenbach and Neckarsulm at the exit of the valley before the Sulm flows into the Neckar.

The valley and the surrounding area are quite wide, framed by the mostly wooded Löwenstein Mountains in the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park and their foothills, the Heilbronn Mountains in the south and the Sulmer mountain range in the north. In the valley there are also Lehrensteinsfeld on the southern edge before the steep mountain climb, the town of Weinsberg in the left side valley of the Stadtseebach and Eberstadt in the right of the Erlenbach .

tourism

The municipalities in the Weinsberger Tal are part of the Touristikgemeinschaft HeilbronnerLand e. V. and are marketed for tourism under the name HeilbronnerLand. Some of the communities are also members of the Schwäbisch-Fränkischer Wald e. V.
