Wellington Pereira do Nascimento , called Wellington Paulista , (born April 22, 1983 in São Paulo , SP ) is a Brazilian football player .

Career

begin

Wellington Paulista started playing futsal when he was a teenager . Here was discovered by CA Juventus in 2001 and signed. Due to his consistently good performance, he repeatedly attracted attention to other clubs, so that in 2006 he came on loan to the first division club FC Santos. From here, the player made his first attempt in 2007 to establish himself in Europe. The Deportivo Alavés from Spain bought the player. However, he was unable to adapt sufficiently to the conditions there and went back to Brazil after only one season. His goal was the Botafogo FR in Rio de Janeiro in early 2008 . Here he signed a four-year contract. From the beginning he showed his old good performances again.

Cruzeiro

In December 2008 the change to Cruzeiro was announced. Together with his strike partner Kléber , he scored 50 goals (26 goals Wellington and 24 Kleber) throughout the season. On April 5, 2011, the loan to Palmeiras was announced. However, he did not get many missions here and was given permission to go back to Cruzeiro in the course of the championship round. Here he developed again to the club's best goalscorer of the season.

On loan to West Ham and return

On January 5, 2013, Wellington was loaned to West Ham United . The next day the striker traveled to London for his medical examination. A few days after arriving in London, the player was surprised by the popularity of his name in the city. His name has been compared to that of the Duke of Wellington . To get used to it, Wellington first came to the club's U-21 team (up to three players over the age of 21 could take part in games).

After three goals in the first three games for the reserve team, the Brazilian declined the offer to fly the first team to a training camp in Dubai for six days. According to the player, he saw better opportunities to adapt by staying with the reserve team. He did not come to any appearances in the first team of the club. After only two nominations for the substitute bench, Wellington moved back to Brazil in the summer of 2013. Here he was loaned directly to the Criciúma EC . The loan until the end of 2013 was part of an agreement to change the player Lucca to Cruzeiro.

Brazil

Internacional At the end of 2013, the player's change to SC Internacional became known. He signed a contract here for two years. After making regular appearances in his first season, he was loaned to Coritiba FC in 2015 . Wellington Paulista moved permanently to Fluminense Rio de Janeiro in the current season .

Fluminense The contract with FLU ran until the end of 2017. Wellington Paulista came to the club from Rio de Janeiro in the 2015 season to regular assignments. In the following year he was loaned out again. His next stop was the AA Ponte Preta . This loaned the player out for a year. Here he played 39 games in various official competitions in 2016, in which he scored 10 goals.

Chapecoense In 2017 he did not return to FLU , but was loaned to the Chapecoense . After the season, the player moved permanently to Chapecoense and signed a two-year contract until the end of 2019.

Fortaleza Wellington left Paulista Chapecoense while the 2019 state championships were still being held . He signed with the Fortaleza EC in early March .
