Ernst Friedrich Werner von der Schulenburg , also Schulenburg-Beetzendorf , (born April 1, 1829 in Beetzendorf , † January 5, 1911 there ) was a manor owner and member of the Reichstag .

His parents were Werner von der Schulenburg (* August 7, 1797 - March 9, 1829) and his wife Freiin Charlotte von Friesen (* November 12, 1798 - April 30, 1874), a daughter of Johann Georg Friedrich von Friesen , who married on July 5, 1821. His mother's grave in the Beetzendorf estate cemetery is still preserved today.

Life

Schulenburg studied in Halle and was an officer in the 10th hussar regiment until 1854. In 1866 he led a Landwehr escadron in the Main Army. During the war against France he led an escadron in a reserve regiment from the first day of mobilization until the summoning of the Reichstag.

From 1866 to 1867 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives , from 1867 to 1871 of the Communal and Brandenburg Provincial Parliament . From 1867 to 1871 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the Conservative Party for the constituency administrative district Magdeburg 1 ( Salzwedel - Gardelegen ). His election to the first parliamentary term of the Reichstag was declared invalid on November 29, 1871; in the replacement election on February 29, 1872, he was defeated by the national liberal opponent Friedrich Kapp .

In 1872 he was sent to the manor house as a representative of the Count's Association of the Province of Saxony , to which he belonged until 1906.

He was the 1st chairman of the German Aristocratic Association founded in 1874 and a founding / board member of the Association of Tax and Economic Reformers founded in 1875 .

In 1879 Werner von der Schulenburg acquired the Klosterrode estate through compensation from the co-owners, which he and other family members from Wolfsburg and Detzel had inherited in 1853 through the death of Friedrich Albrecht von der Schulenburg, who had remained childless . In 1904 (formally in 1906) he sold it again for economic reasons.
