Western Jack (original title: Un uomo, un cavallo, una pistola ) is a spaghetti western with Tony Anthony in the lead role. Luigi Vanzi directed in 1967 under a pseudonym. An alternate title is Every Shot A Hit . The German-language premiere took place on January 5, 1968.
action
A gang of outlaws is up to mischief between the American and Mexican borders, and they also kill a postal inspector who disrupted their illegal gold transport. A nameless stranger with a parasol takes the dead man's ID card and takes some time to take down the bandits who have built a carriage out of the gold one by one. Meanwhile, the gang boss Enplein is waiting for their arrival in a ghost town. In the end, there are hardly any survivors there either.
criticism
For the lexicon of international film , the work is an “unusually brutal and cynical European Western.” B. Duffort criticized in season '71' 'that the film greatly belittles the unprovoked violence that is not associated with a psychological development. Christian Keßler writes: "The stranger comes out of nowhere, rides through nowhere, and then countless more or less exciting things happen to him that the viewer can experience in minute detail." And summarizes that it is "a rough action western," but " really a matter of taste. "
AH Weiler sums up the hero's characteristics: the silent inspector affectionately calls his horse Pussy, carries a wrinkled pink parasol, dresses in a poncho and is armed with a four-barreled rifle and a machete. He attested the script to have laconic humor.
The evangelical film observer has an ambivalent opinion : “The script and direction placed great value on extremely brutal comedy, without creating a counterbalance in the person of the corrupt wandering preacher. A visit is therefore not worthwhile despite the exciting plot and some good directorial ideas. "
Remarks
The English-language title The Stranger Returns refers to the series character of the film protagonist, who made his film debut in A Dollar Between the Teeth ( A Stranger in Town ).
The soundtrack was released on CD.
