Westpoort is an industrial park ( Bedrijventerrein in Dutch ) and a municipality in the municipality of Amsterdam , province of North Holland . This is the second largest industrial area in the Netherlands .

The port and industrial area includes the western ports of the city, including the Amerikahaven, Australiehaven, Aziehaven . Westpoort lies on the North Sea Canal . Opposite is, separated by the canal, Westzaan , from the municipality of Zaanstad . The industrial area has an area of 35 km² and is divided into the Teleport, Sloterdijk I, II and III premises, the port area and “De Heining”. Among other things, 112 banks and insurance companies, ABN AMRO , Deutsche Leasing- Factoring GmbH, Fortis Bank , ING Bank , Rabobank as well as 131 companies from the automotive industry, 241 wholesalers and 198 companies from the construction industry are located in Westpoort (status: 2010).
Within Westpoort is the former village of Ruigoord and the nearby Amsterdam Sloterdijk train station . In 2001, 1530 companies were listed there, in 2008 there were around 2000 companies with around 45,000 employees and around 370 residents.
The Teleport business park also belongs to Westpoort . Created in the 1980s, this area is reserved for 80% of telematics . The “Millennium Tower” and “Crystal Toren” are in Telepoort, both of which are among the ten largest office buildings in Amsterdam. Also “La Guardia Plaza”, which is one of the twenty tallest buildings in the city. Residential houses are also being planned here for the future.
Since there was crime in Westpoort in the past , including illegal cannabis cultivation , illegal car and motorcycle races and illegal business activities, extra police operations and security services were deployed, such as "Stichting Parkmanagement Amsterdam Teleport" and "Penninkhof Security". From one person in 2003 to 27 inspectors in 2007. A specially hired Westpoort bus runs between Sloterdijk and some companies in Westpoort (Kenneth Goedhart).
