Sloterdijk Centrum , old name: Teleport , is a district and industrial area ( Bedrijventerrein in Dutch ) in Amsterdam , province of North Holland , and belongs to the Westpoort industrial area and the Amsterdam Nieuw-West district .

history

Teleport: Radar path in a northerly direction

In the 1980s, Teleport was created for the construction of office buildings, with a focus on telematics . The district is part of the second largest industrial park in the Netherlands, the Westpoort. This is divided into Sloterdijk I, II and III, De Heining, the port area and Teleport. In 2008 there were around 2000 companies in Westpoort with around 50,000 employees and around 370 inhabitants, of which 30 were in Teleport in 2009 and around 20,000 employees. Many roads in Teleport received the name of international airports, including: Arlandaweg (Stockholm airport) Barajasweg (Madrid airport), Heathrowstraat (Airport of London), Naritaweg (airport of Tokyo), Kingsfordweg (Sydney Airport).

As the number of residents is constantly increasing, 600 rental apartments are planned. The municipality of Amsterdam, Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) and ProRail (similar to the German railway infrastructure company (Dutch: spoorinfrastructuurbeheerder )) signed an agreement for 60 million euros in October 2009 . With this investment, shops, restaurants, sports facilities and hotels are also to be realized.

Teleport is located at the Amsterdam Sloterdijk train station , the tenth largest train station in the Netherlands, with bus and tram stops . The location of the industrial estate was adapted to the natural landscape of De Brettenzone . The natural area stretches from the Westerpark to Spaarnwoude and partly runs through Teleport.

In 2004 the foundation "Stichting Parkmanagement Amsterdam Teleport" (SPAT) was founded. Through a "public-private cooperation" ( publiek-private samenwerking ) between the port of Amsterdam, the Amsterdam-Amstelland police, the NS , entrepreneurs and tenants, the interests of all parties are to be taken into account. Due to the increasing number of residents in Teleport, SPAT set up a kindergarten called Tele-Kits . The kindergarten is very close to the Sloterdijk train station and offers various activities for children up to four years of age.

Of the ten largest office buildings in Amsterdam, two are in Teleport: the Millennium Tower and the Crystal Toren . On August 27, 2009 Teleport received an award for the best manicured industrial area ( het best onderhouden bedrijventerrein ) in Amsterdam.
