Bullewijk is a district in Amsterdam-Zuidoost in the province of North Holland and, together with Amstel III, had 665 inhabitants in 2017.

history

Bullewijk was created by draining the Holendrecht polder and Bullewijker polder in the east of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel . In 1875 the municipality gave consent for a bog colonization ( Dutch Veenderij ) and was given the name De nieuwe Bullewijk . In 1908 the moor area was also drained.

The district got its name in 1978 after the river of the same name "Bullewijk" and is bounded by the Amsterdam – Arnhem railway line , on the west side by the Utrechtseweg, in the north by the Burgemeester Stramanweg and in the south by the Tafelbergweg. Bullewijk is located in the "Amstel III" industrial park . "Amstel I" is the official name for the industrial area Overamstel , "Amstel II" is part of "Amstel I", but belongs to the municipality of Ouder-Amstel and "Amstel III" as the third industrial area in Amsterdam South-East (Dutch Zuid- Oost ). Bullewijk is currently (as of 2013) still an industrial area. Among other things, the Academisch Medisch Centrum ( AMC for short ) is located here, with an area of 230,000 m² and a total of around 9,000 employees and patients.

Heineken Music Hall

The Hogeschool van Amsterdam ( HvA for short ) and the recreation area (Dutch recreatiegebied ) De Hoge Dijk are located in Bullewijk. Due to the constant further development of the area, housing options are also to be realized. There is also the Heineken Music Hall and the “University Clinic” of the University of Amsterdam ( UvA for short ), as well as the Bullewijk metro station .

In de Bijlmermeer zelf, maar vooral vlak daarbuiten zou een market voor uiteenlopende producten en diensten braak liggen, zo will be verondersteld. "
